Arkady Wagner, the father of Nikita Zezin, the second suspect in the beating of Nikita Zezin, director of the Ural Federal Agrarian Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that his son had never shown aggression or cruelty. This was reported on July 31 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

"He has a calm, gentle personality. They made a monster out of the son. <...> He had not chopped a chicken since childhood, he was afraid of blood, and then he was made a murderer," the man emphasized.

He noted that before his arrest, Arkady himself came to testify to the Investigative Committee, along with his wife and children.

"He couldn't handle his emotions. <...> There was a kidnapping of children, there was a statement from parents," added Arkady's aunt Tatiana.

According to the woman, no one beat Zezin, and the scientist could not have died a few days after he was slapped. They are preparing to choose a preventive measure for Wagner.

On July 28, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case into the beating of Zezin, who died on July 22 amid stress and heart problems. According to investigators, on July 13, the scientist made a remark to teenagers riding ATVs in experimental fields, after which their parents came to the institute and beat Zezin and his colleague. The scientists were punched right in the face.

The first suspect, Alexander Reveruk, was taken into custody on July 29, and then arrested until September 26. The detainee's wife, Svetlana, told Izvestia that her husband was innocent. After a while, a second suspect was detained in Yekaterinburg. The Investigative Committee charged a 39-year-old resident of the regional center with group hooliganism (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The identity of the person involved was not disclosed.
