The Admiral Nakhimov cruiser will join the Russian Navy by the end of 2026.

The Admiral Nakhimov heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser is undergoing the final stage of testing after modernization and is expected to replenish the combat strength of the Russian Navy by the end of this year. This was announced on July 26 by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.

"Let's not guess. I think we will implement this year's plans. This year. Full trials are underway," Moiseev said in an interview with Zvezda TV channel.

On June 1, the press service of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation reported that Admiral Nakhimov, after repairs and modernization, had begun the final stage of testing. As noted, the Polar minesweeper also joined the fleet during the winter training period.

The final decision on the expediency of repairing the flagship of the Northern Fleet has not yet been made — in case of abandonment, the ship will be disposed of.

Andrey Puchkov, General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, announced on June 11 that the Admiral Nakhimov cruiser had undergone a comprehensive modernization and surpassed its modern foreign counterparts in several key parameters. According to him, after completing all types of tests, the Russian Navy will receive a modern ship capable of performing tasks anywhere in the World Ocean.
