Blogger Ilya Craft was charged with spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces

Ilya Craft, a detained Russian blogger, was charged with spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces. This was announced on July 17 by his lawyer Sergey Badamshin.

"Ilya Craft was detained in accordance with the procedure 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. He was charged under clause "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination of deliberately false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation." — Ed.)," he said in a conversation with TASS.

It is not specified for which specific publications the charges were filed. Badamshin said that the Craft is being investigated as a suspect and accused. He's already been questioned.

The investigative actions have been completed. The prosecution will apply for the arrest of the Craft for two months. The case will be considered by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, the lawyer said. The blogger himself pleads not guilty.

The maximum penalty under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation incriminated to Ilya Craft is 10 years in prison. A fine of 3 million to 5 million rubles, forced labor, or a ban on certain actions and positions for three to five years may also be imposed.

Craft, who was discharged from a psychiatric hospital, was detained on July 17 in accordance with Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination under the guise of reliable reports of deliberately false information containing data on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation"). The arrest took place right in the Craft apartment in St. Petersburg, the blogger was placed face down on the floor. He was transported from St. Petersburg to Moscow for interrogation.
