Medvedev attended the farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei

On July 3, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev attended a farewell ceremony for former Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei in Tehran, where he also had a brief conversation with President Masoud Peseshkian.

The farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei began with a separate event for foreign delegations, as well as political and public figures. Khamenei's farewell and funeral will be held from July 4 to July 9. The main funeral ceremony is scheduled for July 6 in Tehran. The next day, on July 7, mourning events will continue in the Shiite holy city of Qom, and the final ceremony will take place on July 9 in Mashhad.

On this day, the remains of the former supreme leader were taken to the Musalla Imam Khomeini religious complex in Tehran. Representatives of more than 30 countries, including Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Georgia and Cuba, also arrived in the republic to participate in the funeral ceremonies.
