Mirmurodzoda Khursandmurod Mirmurod, a citizen of Tajikistan, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the case of preparing a terrorist act in Yessentuki. This was reported on July 3 in the press service of the Southern District Military Court.

"In accordance with the court's verdict, the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 15 years in a high—security penal colony with serving the first four years in prison with a fine of 500 thousand rubles," the court's page on the VKontakte social network says.

As the court found, in May 2024, the man took the oath of office to an international terrorist organization banned in Russia and sent the corresponding video to its participant. Later, following the instructions he received, he began preparing a terrorist attack. The man conducted a reconnaissance of the alleged target of the attack, purchased components for the manufacture of explosives and an improvised explosive device, and also stored them in a rented garage.

According to the investigation, the accused examined the territory of the Yessentuki bus station, filmed the object on video and sent the recording to a member of a terrorist organization. He was unable to complete his criminal plan, as law enforcement officers seized components for making explosives.

On July 2, the terrorists intended to drop an improvised explosive device (IED) on a train carrying products for the military-industrial complex moving over a bridge in the Orenburg region. Criminal cases have already been initiated against them. The defendants are accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization, preparing a terrorist act, illegal trafficking of weapons, explosives and their smuggling.
