- A resident of the Kursk region spoke about the coercion of the Ukrainian language in captivity
A resident of the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region, who was forcibly held captive in Ukraine, said that Russians in captivity were forced to speak Ukrainian.
"[Ukrainians said], 'Don't forget where you are.' [It was used] to force this to the Ukrainian language. That is, you have to speak it all the time," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to a resident of the Kursk region, the Ukrainian militants also tried to influence the prisoners psychologically. So, they inspired the Russians that their country allegedly did not need them.
The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Yana Lantratova, said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 29 that 550 prisoners of war had been returned to the country during her time as Ombudsman. Lantratova noted that she had established communication with the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets.
