Scammers Create fake house Chats to Deceive Russians: First, they report a possible hack, and then offer assistance in eliminating the consequences of a data leak. Senator Artem Sheikin told about it on June 30.

"Some fraudulent schemes are built not around a real hack, but around its convincing imitation. At first, scammers create the feeling that a person has made a serious mistake, and then they offer "salvation," Sheikin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, in house chats, citizens are asked to provide a confirmation code, after which the victim is sent a fake screenshot similar to the authorization page on Gosuslugi, where the fraudster allegedly already entered this code. At the end of the scheme, there is a "rescue" from structures, for example, Gosinform or support services, which offer to click on the link, install the application or transfer money to a secure account. The senator advised against following instructions in such situations and checking information through official channels.
