Russian rapier player Penyushkina won bronze at the European Championships
Russian rapier player Vladislava Penyushkina became the bronze medalist of the European Fencing Championship. The European Fencing Championships are held from June 16 to 21.
In the semifinals, the 22-year-old athlete lost to the 2012 Olympic champion, Italian Arianna Errigo, with a score of 11:15. For Penyushkina, this award was the first medal at the European Championships in her career.
According to Sport-Express, Russian athletes compete in the tournament in a neutral status. At the same time, full-fledged admission of fencers from Russia to international competitions is expected starting from the World Championships in Hong Kong, which will be held on July 22-30.
Two-time Olympic champion Russian sabre player Yana Yegoryan became the silver medalist of the European Fencing Championships. In the final, she faced Spain's Luizia Martin-Portugues and lost to her with a score of 13:15.
