- Putin at the SPIEF spoke about the "crying of Yaroslavna" from investors at a high rate
At the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), Russian President Vladimir Putin touched upon the topic of the high key interest rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the reaction of business to it. The Head of State compared the complaints of entrepreneurs with "Yaroslavna's cry" and admitted that the high rate complicates the investment process. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Putin's statement
Speaking at the forum, the president used an image from the ancient Russian poem "Words about Igor's Regiment" as a metaphor, in which Princess Yaroslavna weeps inconsolably, longing for her husband.
"And this is the cry, <...> probably, the Russian audience will understand this cry of Yaroslavna — "Guard!" — we understand, related to the key rate and so on, so on," he said, referring to business complaints.
