The European Parliament (EP) will switch to the French Qwant search engine instead of Google starting from June 4, 2026. This was reported by Reuters on June 3.

"From June 4, 2026, Qwant will become the default search engine in the Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox browsers used by the European Parliament," said EP representative Roberta Metsola.

The changes will be made automatically, but users will be able to select any other system manually. In addition, on June 3, the European Commission (EC) announced measures regarding microchips, cloud and computing services, as well as neural networks as part of the "Buy European" initiative.
