Nina Marushina, People's Artist of Russia, who served at the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theater since 1962, passed away on June 2 at the age of 91. About her early years, work in theater and cinema — in the material of Izvestia.

Early years and education

Nina Marushina was born on May 16, 1935 in Saratov in a creative family. Her mother was the prima ballerina of the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theater. After graduating from high school, the future actress entered the Faculty of Philology at Saratov University. However, after receiving her diploma, she moved to Moscow and became a student at the Moscow Art Theater Studio School.

In 1962, Marushina graduated from an educational institution. Among her graduate works were the roles of Olga in Anton Chekhov's "Three Sisters," mother in Alexei Arbuzov's "Lost Son," and hostess in Evgeny Schwartz's "An Ordinary Miracle." In the same year, she became an actress at the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theater, where she worked until the end of her life.

Career in theater

For 64 years, Marushina has created dozens of memorable images on the stage of the Pushkin Theater. Among her early works are the roles of Lushka in Mikhail Sholokhov's "Virgin Soil Lifted", Zinaida Vasilyevna in Leonid Andreev's "Days of Our Lives", the courtesan Molly in Charles MacArthur's "Gentlemen from Chicago" and Marcella in Vladimir Balashov's "The Legend of Paganini".

In later years, the actress continued to actively go on stage. She played the nanny in "The Scarlet Flower", Matilda in "The Great Magic", Korobkin's wife in "The Inspector General". In May 2015, Marushina participated in the premiere of the play "Tartuffe" directed by French director Brigitte Jacques-Vazhman, playing the role of Madame Pernelle.

"Her performance was not an image of old age, but an insight into dignity, nobility, and loneliness," critics wrote about the actress' work.

Cinema and television

Marushina made her film debut in 1968. She has worked in the films "Babi riot", "Day after Day", "Days of our Lives", "About Roma and his friends", "Oblomov", "Your Gentle image", "I do not allow censorship to memory", "Cow", "Destructors". Most of these works are films and plays.

Titles and awards

In 1995, Nina Marushina was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia. In 2001, she was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree. In 2020, she was awarded the Order of Friendship for her active work in preserving, enhancing and popularizing Russia's cultural and historical heritage. She was also awarded the 850th Anniversary of Moscow Medal (1997) and two prizes from the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.

Death

Marushina's death was announced on June 2 by the press service of the Pushkin Theater. The actress was 91 years old, she was one of the oldest actors of the theater. No cause of death was reported.
