The Italian mercenary Alex Pineschi, who was liquidated in May, had previously written on social media about the difficulties of serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which means that the situation at the front for the AFU may be more difficult than it is described by Western media. This statement was made on May 31 by Andrea Lucidi, an Italian journalist with Russian citizenship.

"It is interesting that such an experienced and trained fighter like him said that he had 'experienced difficulties' in military service, which may mean that the Ukrainian forces, including special forces, are facing much greater difficulties at the front than the West is willing to admit," Luchidi told TASS.

The journalist noted that in 2024, Pineski stated in a video that he did not consider the Ukrainian conflict his own and that he was persuaded to participate in the selection process for the Ukrainian special forces, because, according to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces wanted to see him in their ranks.

The newspaper La Nazione reported on May 28 that another Italian militant was eliminated in the conflict zone in Ukraine. It is specified that the deceased previously served in the 8th Alpine regiment of the Italian army, and then engaged in private activities in the field of tactical training.
