Trump expressed his condolences over the death of the four-time NHL champion

On May 29, US President Donald Trump expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased Canadian hockey player Claude Lemieux.

"Lemieux, a true legend of the game and one of the most violent athletes hockey has ever seen, has passed away," Trump wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.

The American leader stressed that the athlete was a friend of his family and a firm supporter of his political platform.

The National Hockey League (NHL) Veterans Association announced on May 28 that the four-time Stanley Cup winner died at the age of 61. He started his professional career in 1983.
