A fire occurred in the area of the Baraka nuclear power plant in the west of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to a drone attack, there is no threat to radiation safety. This was announced on May 17 in a statement from the Abu Dhabi Emergency Management Center.

"Abu Dhabi authorities responded to a fire that broke out in an electric generator outside the inner perimeter of the Baraka nuclear power plant in the Al-Dhafra area as a result of a drone strike. No injuries were reported, the incident did not affect the level of radiation safety," the center said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that the Federal Office for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the power plant, all power units are operating normally.
