Last night and early in the morning, 51 aircraft left for alternate airfields due to temporary measures to use the airspace. This was announced on May 17 by the Russian Ministry of Transport.

"Last night and early in the morning, 51 aircraft left for alternate airfields due to temporary restrictions on the use of airspace. Restrictions are necessary to ensure flight safety. This is a priority," the department's channel says in the Maks messenger.

The work of civil aviation in the Moscow region is under special control of the Ministry of Transport and the Federal Air Transport Agency after time restrictions. Currently, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports accept and send flights in a regular mode.

32 flights were delayed by more than two hours at airport terminals. Additional staff has been deployed to support people, and the airport services have been put on an enhanced mode of operation. The situation in the terminal buildings is assessed as calm, Rostransnadzor inspectors are working on the ground.

The agency recalled that in case of delays, airlines are required to provide services to passengers in accordance with federal aviation regulations. Carriers must provide drinks and meals, as well as arrange for people to stay in hotels.

On May 9, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported that part of the international flights operated by Russian carriers had been resumed and were carried out through the south of Russia. It was noted that they were carried out through the Rostov region, which reduces flight time and saves fuel.
