Likhachev named the purpose of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on Energodar

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are deliberately spreading panic in the satellite city of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant Energize with your attacks. This was announced on May 16 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation.

"The enemy is purposefully spreading panic in the city and making ordinary peaceful life impossible. People are afraid to leave their homes," Likhachev said.

According to him, this tactic is also aimed at the plant's employees, which affects the nuclear safety of the Zaporizhia NPP. The head of the state corporation also pointed out the immediate risks for the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, noting the difficulty of delivering personnel to the facility.

"A rhetorical question: in a situation where the delivery of personnel itself turns into a special operation, when the performance of their professional duties by ordinary employees is accompanied by the risk of losing their lives and health, when the facilities of the plant itself become targets of attacks by combat drones, what kind of safe operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant can we talk about?" stressed Likhachev.

He added that the escalation of the situation in the area of the Zaporizhia NPP will be a key issue in the upcoming consultations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
