United Russia held a patriotic flash mob "Blue Handkerchief" in Serpukhov
On May 8, the United Russia party organized a patriotic flash mob "Blue Handkerchief" in Serpukhov near Moscow on the eve of Victory Day.
The event was attended by cadets of the local branch of the Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) named after Peter the Great. They performed a waltz to the accompaniment of wartime songs. Among them, the famous composition "Blue Handkerchief", a symbol of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), was performed. An exhibition of military equipment was also held during the flash mob.
"The holiday symbolizes, first of all, the memory of our fallen heroes...> The dance made me feel proud, both for my compatriots and for my comrades," one of the cadets of the academy shared with Izvestia.
Elena, the mom of the flash mob participant, noted that she was glad to see the revival of such traditions in honor of Victory Day. According to her, the younger generation should remember the feat of their ancestors in the Great Patriotic War.
"To be honest, the emotions are overwhelming. Especially these dances, all the compositions. <...> The children finally saw that there is even such military equipment. Very, very impressive," she said.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that military personnel of the motorized rifle unit of the Central Military District (CVO) held a personal parade for a participant in the partisan movement, aviation technician, retired senior Lieutenant Vladislav Filatovich Booth in Samara. The event was held in front of the veteran's house on the eve of Victory Day celebrations.
