Rostec doubled production of combat aircraft
Russia is preparing for the serial production of new airliners as early as 2027.: This applies to passenger MC-21 and import-substituted SSJ-100 aircraft. This became known on May 7 at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the head of Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov. In addition, the first aircraft to replace the aging An-24 and An-26, the IL-114, will be delivered as early as 2026. The main task of Rostec's enterprises remains the fulfillment of the state defense order — the corporation has begun to supply the troops with the latest Sarma MLRS and the Scalpel drone, as well as modern versions of the Cube barrage ammunition.
What was discussed at the meeting
Rostec's revenue has quadrupled in 10 years, and civilian products continue to grow every year. Today it has exceeded 1.1 trillion rubles. "Under the conditions of its implementation, the growth in the production of civilian products is very good," Vladimir Putin noted.
In particular, Sergey Chemezov spoke about plans to annually produce 36 MC-21 aircraft and 20 SSJ-100 Superjets by 2030. Their mass production will begin in 2027. The IL-114 will also be released this year. The airliners will replace the outdated An-24 and An-26, which are practically not being repaired. KAMAZ will supply 700 large-class electric buses to Moscow by 2027. Today, 2.3 thousand such electric buses are already running in the capital.
Sergey Chemezov called the state defense order the main guideline for Rostec: its execution is over 99.5%. The volume of production of combat aircraft has doubled since 2022. Among the new products that began to be supplied to the troops in 2025 are the Kub-2 and Kub-10 barrage ammunition with an increased flight range.
The troops also received a new drone with an X-shaped Scalpel wing, which allows them to hit targets from any angle. The multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) has also increased the country's combat capability "Sarma" 300 mm caliber. "It only takes three minutes to get out and prepare for shooting, and three minutes to leave the position. It's very mobile. It takes only 18 seconds for a full salvo," Chemezov explained.
