A businessman was arrested in Omsk on charges of embezzlement.
The Central District Court of Omsk has authorized the arrest of Dmitry Zolotarev, General Director of the PCT-General Contractor company. The businessman is accused of embezzling 545 million rubles from the Khrunichev State Space Research and Production Center. This was announced on May 4 by the joint press service of the Omsk courts.
The court considered the petition of the investigation and decided to take the defendant into custody for two months. Zolotarev was charged with fraud on an especially large scale, and he is also a suspect in two more similar episodes.
"The court, taking into account the submitted materials and personal information, decided to choose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention for two months in a pre—trial detention center," the report says.
The investigation believes that the 53-year-old businessman operated as part of a group of individuals from 2022 to 2025. According to law enforcement officials, the theft of funds occurred during the implementation of a state contract for the reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the buildings of the Polet production association, where the serial production of Angara launch vehicles is being organized.
To withdraw the money, the accused prepared and submitted fictitious documentation to the Federal Treasury Department in Moscow. The papers indicated the inflated cost of overhead cranes, which the PCT-General Contractor company allegedly purchased from organizations controlled by Zolotarev.
