Putin congratulates Sassou Nguesso on his re-election as President of Congo

On April 29, Russian Leader Vladimir Putin congratulated Denis Sassou Nguesso on his re-election as President of the Republic of the Congo.

"I want to congratulate you on the election results. <...> Thank you also for hosting our delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, Mr. [Alexander] Novak," he said.

During the meeting, Putin also stressed the importance of the fact that Sassou Nguesso made his first foreign visit after his inauguration to Russia.

In addition, the Russian President confirmed his readiness to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
