Applications for the cosmonaut squad have been accepted at Gosuslugi
The Roscosmos State Corporation has opened the reception of applications for the cosmonaut corps on the Gosuslugi portal. The relevant information was published on the website of the Ministry of Finance on April 12.
"The path to the stars begins at Gosuslugi! Use the new service on the portal and get a chance to join the cosmonaut squad. You can apply for participation in the correspondence selection until June 30, 2026," the publication says.
It is noted that candidates must have Russian citizenship, higher education from the approved list and work experience in the specialty for at least three years. The age of the applicant may not exceed 35 years, and the weight must be from 50 to 90 kg. The future cosmonaut also needs to speak English, Italian, Spanish, German or French. The mandatory requirements include excellent health, high physical endurance and mental stability.
To participate in the competition, you need to submit an application on the portal, undergo a medical examination and send medical documents. After that, candidates who have passed the preliminary examination will be invited to the full-time selection at the Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC).
On the basis of the center, applicants will have a repeated medical examination, an interview, passing physical fitness standards, as well as testing for compliance with the level of education and professional qualifications. Upon successful completion of all the tests, candidates will sign an employment contract with the CPC and begin training.
Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, announced on the same day that the salary of a novice cosmonaut in Russia is 180 thousand rubles, and with the accumulation of experience, the amount increases. For example, the salary of a third—class cosmonaut can reach 300 thousand rubles, for a second—class specialist - up to 400 thousand rubles, and for the first class - up to 500 thousand rubles.
At a meeting with Dmitry Bakanov, head of Roscosmos, on April 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian space industry feels confident despite the accumulated problems. Bakanov, in turn, thanked the president for the establishment of the Space Week, which included more than 1,000 events involving several tens of millions of people.
