Emergency lights were turned off in Kiev and the Kiev region.
An emergency blackout was introduced in Kiev and the Kiev region. This was announced on March 23 by the Ukrainian energy holding company DTEK.
"Kiev and the Kiev region: emergency shutdowns have been applied at the command of Ukrenergo," the Telegram channel said.
The company added that during emergency outages, schedules are invalid.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced on March 3 that the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, would be responsible for the insufficient preparation of the city for winter. According to the Ukrainian leader, Kiev is the only one that has not presented a plan for preparing for next winter.
Klitschko said on February 15 that Kiev was already on the brink of disaster. He clarified that the city was in this situation as a result of damage to critical infrastructure, and local residents faced massive power outages, heating and water supply. Klitschko noted that his long-standing political feud with Zelensky only worsens the city's problems.
