There are several reasons why vision may decline in early childhood. This was announced on March 8 by Amina Ausheva, a pediatric ophthalmologist of the first category at the Center for Vision Restoration Clinic.

The first danger is using gadgets in total darkness. A bright screen against the background of darkness causes the pupil to randomly contract and expand.

"This causes a tremendous overstrain of the oculomotor muscles and leads to a rapid decrease in visual acuity. The solution is simple: always turn on the general light or at least a night light, and also activate the warm screen shades mode on the devices," the doctor said in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».

The second danger is the lack of time control. Children can spend no more than 20 minutes a day in front of the screen. Timers will help save the situation: every 20 minutes, look for 20 seconds at an object 6 meters away.

The third mistake is breaking the distance. The child should hold a book or phone at arm's length. The fourth is saving on lighting. Flickering cheap lamps or dim light can cause retinal vascular spasms. The doctor recommends lamps with a neutral white light of 4000-5000 Kelvin and uniform lighting without shadows.

The fifth problem is the neglect of prevention. Astigmatism and hyperopia develop asymptomatically. If you do not identify them before the age of 7-10, correction at an older age will be difficult. The sixth is improper nutrition. Deficiency of vitamins A, E, zinc and omega-3 weakens the eye structures. The diet should include carrots, fish, nuts and greens.

The seventh mistake is lack of hygiene: the habit of rubbing your eyes, using other people's towels, or sleeping in lenses leads to infections and micro-injuries.

"A child's eyesight is formed up to adulthood. An integrated approach, including screen monitoring, proper lighting, adequate nutrition and regular checkups with a specialist, reduces the risk of developing pathologies by 60-70%," she concluded.

The day before, Karina Kozina, a specialist at the Vision ophthalmological center, explained the dangers of using eye drops. According to her, the moisturizing drops themselves, especially without preservatives, are usually safe and are actually used for dry eye syndrome. However, the problem arises when a person only relieves symptoms for months without finding out the cause of dryness. Common factors include blepharitis, as well as disorders of the meibomian glands.
