The Armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been put on alert. President Ilham Aliyev announced this on Thursday, March 5, during a meeting of his Security Council.

"Our armed forces — the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Guard Service and all other special forces — have been assigned to the number one mobilization staff and must be ready to carry out any operation," the Azertac news agency quoted him as saying.
