The Prosveshchenie Publishing House, together with the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Circle Movement, presented the first textbook on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for high school students. This was announced on February 27 by Dmitry Zemtsov, Vice Rector of the Higher School of Economics and leader of the working group of the NTI Circle Movement.

"The introduction of drones into a wide variety of fields requires a lot of specialists — pilots, programmers, engineers. With the help of our textbook, students will be able to take the first step and try on the role of a developer of a separate drone or an entire aviation system right in the classroom," he said in an interview with TASS.

The textbook is called "Unmanned aerial vehicles. From the device to the choice of profession" and designed for students in grades 10-11, it has passed the state examination. The publication has already been included in the federal list of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and is focused on in-depth study of the topic in the subjects of Physics and Computer Science. It can also be used in extracurricular activities and in additional education, for example, in technology parks and IT cubes.

Zemtsov noted that with the development of technology, drones have found applications not only in video filming, but also in areas such as monitoring, rescue, agriculture and public protection. In this regard, many specialists are required, including pilots, engineers and programmers. The textbook will help students to get acquainted with the process of creating unmanned aerial vehicles, learn how to maintain them, as well as master the skills of piloting and flight programming using computer vision and artificial intelligence.

In addition, the textbook includes sections on the legal aspects of drone use, such as vehicle registration and flight coordination. This step is aimed at attracting schoolchildren to the field of unmanned aircraft systems and training future specialists for Russian universities and the industry.

On January 31, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that military specialists from the technical and operational part of the unmanned systems forces of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Zapad group of forces had prepared new heavy FPV drones called Koshchey, which are designed to deliver cargo to the front line and perform combat missions. It is specified that the development of drones was initiated in response to a request from the command.
