Moscow's Dorogomilovsky Court extended until August 13 the measure of restraint in the form of detention for Zaur Ismailov, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who sparred with a monument to veterans of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was reported on February 26 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Ismailov's defense asked the court to choose a preventive measure unrelated to detention.

"I ask you to pay attention to his disease, namely multiple sclerosis," the lawyer said, also stressing that the disease is currently in an acute phase.

The Moscow Prosecutor's office reported in December last year that the court had detained fighter Ismailov. It was noted that during the court session, the defendant objected to the choice of a preventive measure in the form of arrest.

A criminal case was opened against the defendant after the publication of a video showing a man training at the memorial. Ismailov posted a video in which he imitated punches and kicks at a statue of a child in Dmitry Mikhaylik Square in Moscow. The next day, on December 6, the man was detained.
