French ski mountaineers win the mixed relay at the Olympics

French athletes Thibaut Anselme and Emily Arrop won gold medals in the mixed ski mountaineering relay at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy on February 21.

The representatives of France overcame the competition distance in 26 minutes 57.4 seconds. The silver medals went to athletes from Switzerland, Jon Kistler and Marianne Fatton, who were 11.86 seconds behind the leaders. The top three winners were rounded out by Spanish ski climbers Oriol Cardona Col and Ana Alonso Rodriguez, who scored 26.5 seconds slower than the winners.

The Norwegian national team continues to maintain its leadership in the unofficial team competition of the Games: Norwegian athletes have won 18 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals. The second place in the medal standings table is occupied by athletes from the USA. The American team has won 11 gold, 12 silver and seven bronze medals.

On the same day, Russian skier Sergey Korostelev completed his performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The athlete competed in a mass start at a distance of 50 km, the longest in the ski competition program. According to the results of the marathon, the Russian took fifth place.
