Ministry of Finance: Telegram's work was restricted on the basis of federal legislation

Roskomnadzor (RCN) slows down the work of the Telegram messenger in Russia on the basis of federal legislation. This was announced on February 18 by the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadaev.

"Roskomnadzor has decided to slow down Telegram services. The reason: the messenger's systematic and constant violation of the requirements of federal law," TASS quoted him as saying.

Shadaev pointed to the non-fulfillment of obligations to store recordings of voice calls and text messages in Russia. Telegram also violates the requirement for access to such data for law enforcement officers in a court decision.

In addition, the administration of the messenger does not block prohibited content within a day after the request of the RCN, the head of the Ministry of Finance noted.
