A resident of the Altai Territory has been detained on charges of high treason. This was reported on February 18 by the FSB in the region.
"A man born in 1970 established contact with a representative of the SBU via an Internet messenger to assist Ukraine in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation," RIA Novosti quoted the FSB as saying.
According to the case file, the accused carried out the tasks of the Ukrainian curator: he collected information about the locations and routes of movement of military equipment of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stationed in the Altai Territory. He passed the collected information to the representative of the SBU.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"). The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant. The investigation is ongoing.
On January 27, three Russian citizens born in 1979, 1981 and 1984 were detained in the Sverdlovsk region, who planned to set fire to a transport infrastructure facility on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. The attackers seized means of communication with evidence of correspondence, as well as instructions and components for making homemade incendiary devices. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for a terrorist act"), evidence is being collected for qualification under Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("Treason").
