In Russia, the way companies with the self-employed work on digital platforms is changing. The Federal Tax Service has updated the information exchange protocol, after which the completion of assignments has become mandatory for everyone who interacts with the self-employed. This was told in the press service of the platform for relations with the self-employed and IP "Console".

The main change is that companies will no longer be able to transfer money to the self-employed without completed assignments. Now each payment must be linked to a specific task, where the type of service, location, timing, result and cost are specified in advance. The assignment must be public, set for future dates, and executed according to the "one performer — one assignment" principle. After completion, the report will be generated automatically.

"Assignments are not a new tool for the market. This is a way that confirms the piecework nature of the relationship and reduces the risks of retraining into employment. We've been working through assignments since 2023, but now it's becoming mandatory for all market participants. In fact, the market is moving towards a more mature model," explains Mikhail Provision, founder of the Console platform.

Changes in the Federal Tax Service are taking place against the background of increased control over forms of employment. In January 2026, the Ministry of Labor updated risk indicators that may indicate a violation of labor laws, which signals increased government attention to interaction with performers.

Izvestia reported on January 26 that the largest increase in income among Russian self-employed professionals is demonstrated by software technical support experts. Areas related to transport also showed high incomes. Thus, the average receipt for a cargo transportation service amounted to 16 129 rubles, which corresponds to an increase of 18%. The segment of repair and maintenance of vehicles increased the average bill to 19,794 rubles, showing an increase of 16%.
