Kambar Sarsenov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and the internal affairs bodies of Kazakhstan, died at the age of 102 in Almaty, on February 4, the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.
The city police expressed their condolences to the family of the veteran.
"Sarsenov <...> belonged to the Victory generation, people who went through the war and then devoted themselves to serving the state and society. His biography is a story of courage, dedication and dedication to duty," said Aydin Kabduldinov, Head of the Almaty Police Department, in a message of condolence.
He also expressed his sincere condolences to his family members. According to him, the bright memory of the veteran will remain "in the hearts of colleagues and grateful descendants."
Sarsenov was born in 1924 in Kostanay region, and was drafted into the army in 1942. Since 1943, he fought on the Baltic Front, where he was seriously wounded, but returned to the front after treatment. He took part in the liberation of the Kalinin and Pskov regions, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and in battles in East Prussia. Sarsenov himself said that he met the Victory in Konigsberg (now Kaliningrad).
For his courage and heroism, he was awarded the Orders of the Red Star, the Patriotic War I and II degrees, Glory and other awards. After demobilization in 1945, Sarsenov returned to Kazakhstan, where he served for many years in the internal affairs bodies of the Kazakh SSR.
