The French and British authorities are pursuing a pronounced anti-Russian course. This was announced on February 3 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"Both of these countries are pursuing a pronounced anti—Russian course," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to him, both countries lead the so-called "war party", which is currently setting the tone for politics in Western, Central and partly Eastern Europe. Ryabkov also noted that Paris and London are obsessed with the idea of increasing their capabilities, not only in nuclear, but also in other areas affecting strategic stability.

Yesterday, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Britain's policy towards Russia is primitive Russophobia and is being used by the British leadership to retain electoral support.

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said on January 23 that the build-up of weapons carries risks, and their race must be stopped, excluding a return to periodic wars. He added that concerns about a direct conflict between Russia and Europe are exaggerated.
