An earthquake was recorded off the coast of Crimea due to a seismically active area in the Sea of Azov. This was announced on February 3 by Marina Bondar, Deputy Director of the Institute of Seismology and Geodynamics of the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University.

"The earthquake occurred in a seismically active area, where, of course, there are faults," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The day before, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in the Sea of Azov off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula. It was noted that the source was recorded at a depth of 10 km. The tremors could be felt at a distance of 78 km from the city of Kerch.
