Dmitry Peskov, the official representative of the Kremlin, compared modern European politicians to mankurts who have lost their memory of the past.

"They weren't trying to take away (our memories. — Ed.), they themselves do not have this memory. Do you remember who Chingiz Aitmatov had? "And a day lasts longer than a century" (novel by Chingiz Aitmatov. — Ed.): these are those who are deprived of memory. Mankurts, in my opinion. A terrible curse, it's with them (European politicians. It happened," he told journalist Pavel Zarubin.

According to Peskov, the irreversible processes taking place in Europe have led to the fact that populists and poorly educated, irresponsible and having a short political horizon are in power in most European countries.

"There were completely irreversible processes that took place in Europe itself. These are double standards regarding democracy, globalization, the approach to the coexistence of nations, and so on. These are the political systems in European states that have made power suitable only for populists," Peskov said.
