The media reported a gas leak at a chemical plant in Indonesia

In Chilegon, a city in the Indonesian province of Banten, a gas leak occurred from a chemical warehouse located on the territory of the PT Vopak plant. This was reported on January 31 by CNN Indonesia.

It is specified that orange smoke was visible from the building, which caused concern among local residents. Some people complained of difficulty breathing.

The Mayor of Chilegon Robinsar called on PT Vopak to promptly take measures to calm the population and eliminate further exposure to chemical smoke. He noted that, despite the cleanliness of the technical field, the release of gas and its impact on the residents of the city remain a serious problem.

The mayor also asked PT Vopak to provide data on the health status of people living near the plant.
