The state of emergency in the United States, imposed due to the alleged threat to national security from Cuba, is a radical continuation of the strategy of pressure on the country with the aim of economic strangulation. This was announced on January 31 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We are talking about another and very radical relapse of Washington's strategy of maximum pressure on Freedom Island, aimed at its economic strangulation," Zakharova said in a comment on the Foreign Ministry's website.

The ministry also stressed that Moscow categorically does not accept unilateral sanctions against sovereign states that circumvent the United Nations and international law.

In addition, Zakharova expressed confidence that Cuba will continue to effectively maintain foreign economic relations, despite external obstacles.
