Journalist and writer Andrei Soldatov (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) was arrested in absentia in Moscow in a case of evading the duties of a foreign agent. This became known on January 30.
It is specified that Soldatov also took part in the activities of a foreign or international organization that is considered undesirable in Russia.
"The petition for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention has been granted," follows from the court data available to RIA Novosti.
On December 16, a criminal case was opened against Soldatov for evading the duties of a foreign agent. It was clarified that, while outside of Russia, Soldatov distributed materials without indicating that they were created by a foreign agent.
