Shanghai Shenhua Football Club (FC), led by Russian coach Leonid Slutsky, lost 10 points in the new season due to violations in the framework of the anti-corruption campaign in football. This was reported on November 29 by the Global Times newspaper.

Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Kinmen Tiger received a fine of 10 points each, as well as a monetary fine of 1 million yuan (about 11 million rubles. — Ed.)," the publication says.

In total, the sanctions affected 13 Chinese clubs, but none of them were relegated to the lower division. During the campaign, 73 people, including the former president of the Chinese Football Federation, Chen Xiuyuan, and the former head coach of the national team, Li Tie, were suspended from football activities for life.

In November last year, according to the decision of the prosecutor's office, Liu Weidong, the former CEO of one of the largest arms companies in China, China South Industries Group, was detained for bribery. The accused, using his official position, accepted bribes on a particularly large scale.
