Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for Investment and Economic cooperation, advised New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani to learn from Moscow how to effectively clear snow from the streets. He posted a corresponding statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"Mamdani, who cleans the snow himself, is a good photo shoot, and it deserves praise. The "warmth of collectivism" in action. The next step is perhaps to take a lesson from Moscow on how to really keep the streets clean of snow," Dmitriev wrote.

On January 24, the American authorities warned of heavy snowfalls and a sharp drop in temperature. US President Donald Trump said that emergency services have been put on high alert.

Snow storm Fern, which hit the United States, affected more than 200 million people and led to disruptions at airports across the country. Abnormal frosts led to the deaths of at least seven people.

Bloomberg reported on January 26 that American airlines are trying to resume flights, many of which were postponed or canceled due to the winter storm. The strongest storm hit the "vast territories of the south" and the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, effectively paralyzing the work of some of the country's busiest aviation hubs.
