The producer spoke about the schemes of female scammers in the "intimate market"
In Russia, there is an "intimate market" in which female scammers purposefully deceive men who are looking for a serious relationship and plan to build a family. Producer Yulia Shamal told about this on January 23 in an interview for NMG DOC before the premiere of the documentary investigation "Careful, sex! How are we bred?"
According to Shamal, the scammers work according to clear business schemes, often in groups where there are coaches and agents who select "victims." They create various images for specific tasks: for billionaires, they can appear as modest "students", and for less affluent men, they can use a "consummation" scheme. This is a method of increasing demand that is often used in nightclubs: for example, a customer comes to an institution, a girl approaches him (either herself or the manager of the institution represents her), they communicate, the visitor orders drinks for himself and the girl, and she receives a percentage of the order price. In fraud, girls lure middle-income men to overpriced restaurants.
"It turns out that they perceive a man solely as a source of profit. Consumerists and those who are higher in class really do not understand why else they need him. <...> The heroines of the project were genuinely surprised in conversations with us that men were needed, for example, "for the family," — this phrase made them laugh. They are sure that if there is beauty, it should be sold on the market as dearly as possible," Shamal said.
She gave examples from the film: 28-year-old Andrey, having met online, ended up in a restaurant with a bill for 25 thousand rubles instead of the real 8 thousand, and 48-year-old businessman Kirill lost expensive gifts and a car after his "bride", having announced pregnancy, disappeared without a trace. At the same time, it is often impossible to open a criminal case, since the gifts were made "of their own free will."
Shamal stressed that the purpose of the project is to warn people about the dangers. She advises men to check on new acquaintances more carefully, do not hesitate to ask uncomfortable questions and pay attention to contradictions in behavior.
"If you don't like something, it's better to say it head-on, it won't hurt men's self—esteem, but it will help you get out of questionable situations," she added.
The premiere of the film will take place on January 25 at 23:55 on the REN TV channel.
In early January, it was reported that scammers were using fake links to extort money from their victims, promising to refund money for tickets to various dating events. The scheme looks like this: scammers find potential victims on dating sites and, posing as girls, offer to continue communicating in a messenger. During the correspondence, they offer to go to the event by sending a link to purchase tickets. The victim pays for the tickets, but soon he is informed that the girl will not be able to come, and they offer to refund the money through the same link.
