The event takes place in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri. In addition to the designer's entourage, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the fashion world, including Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, Natalia Vodianova and Anna Wintour, as well as actresses Anne Hathaway and Elizabeth Hurley.
All the seats in the basilica, richly decorated with white flowers, are occupied. After the ceremony, the coffin will be taken to the cemetery for burial in the family tomb.
On January 21, a funeral ceremony for Garavani was held at the PM23 exhibition center near Piazza di Spagna, which belongs to the Valentino Foundation. The venue of the ceremony was decorated with lots of white flowers.
On January 19, La Repubblica Daily reported on Garavani's death at the age of 93. It was clarified that the designer will be buried in the Church of Our Lady of the Great (Santa Maria Maggiore).
