The Russian Ministry of Finance does not consider that the country is obliged to pay "royal debts". This was announced on January 21 by Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolychev in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the State Duma.

"Even the Soviet Union did not consider that it was necessary to pay, and the Russian Federation even more so," he said, confirming that the Ministry of Finance does not consider Russia obliged to pay "royal debts," quoted by TASS.
