- The governor of Kaliningrad responded in Lithuanian to the statement of the former Lithuanian Foreign Minister.
On January 19, the governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexei Besprozvannykh, commented on the statements of the former Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Darius Yurgelevicius, who stated a possible scenario of a blockade of Kaliningrad by NATO in the event of a clash with Russia.
In response to the Lithuanian diplomat's statement, Besprozvannykh quoted a shot from Sergei Eisenstein's famous film Alexander Nevsky, adding a translation into Lithuanian.
"An ill-considered statement by the former Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania caught my eye. I would like to answer this with a shot from a famous movie. And to make it happen faster, in a language he understands: Kas su kalaviju pas mus ateis, tas nuo kalavijo ir us (Whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword)," the governor said in his Telegram channel.
On January 15, Yurgelevicius announced that NATO was developing a scenario for a blockade of the Kaliningrad region in case of a direct clash with Russia. In addition, he refused to name the city Kaliningrad, noting that it allegedly has nothing to do with the Russian Federation.
