In the Krasnodar Territory, Igor Borisenko, a citizen of Ukraine, was sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony for attempting to blow up a freight train in the Kuban. This was reported on January 14 in the Telegram channel of the prosecutor's office of the region.

The court found Borisenko guilty of illegal storage and transportation of explosives, as well as attempted destruction of transport infrastructure in order to undermine Russia's economic security. He was convicted under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including for making explosive devices and attempted sabotage.

According to the case file, in September 2024, Borisenko manufactured two improvised explosive devices, which he placed in the mounting niches of two wagons on a freight train. He then tried to initiate the explosions using mobile phones. However, his plan was thwarted — the devices were discovered in time and neutralized by state security officers.

"The court, agreeing with the position of the state prosecutor of the regional prosecutor's office, found Borisenko guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with serving the first three years in prison, with a fine of 1 million rubles," the statement said.

The used property was confiscated for the benefit of the State.

On the same day, Alexander Bastrykin, chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, announced that a Russian man had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for setting fire to a military helicopter and a mobile communications facility on behalf of the Ukrainian special services. He also noted that the agency reacts to all the facts of crimes committed against Russian citizens on the initiative or with the participation of Kiev.
