The Federation Council did not see a threat to Russia in the melting of the Doomsday glacier

The melting of the so-called Doomsday Glacier (Thwaites Glacier) does not pose a danger to Russia, as it is a natural process. This was announced on January 14 by Sergey Anoprienko, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management.

"The Doomsday Glacier sounds impressive, but in fact it's about the normal natural process of ice breaking and glacier movement. The chipping of ice from glaciers in Antarctica and the Arctic is a normal, permanent natural process," he told TASS.
