About 2 thousand people became victims of the protests that took place in Iran. This was reported on January 13 by the Reuters news agency, citing an Iranian official.

"About 2,000 people have died during protests in Iran, an Iranian official said, <...> blaming "terrorists" for the deaths of civilians and security forces," the publication says.

On January 12, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced during a meeting with ambassadors of other countries that the Iranian authorities had taken control of the situation with protests in the territory of the state. According to him, the demonstrations were "instigated and incited" by foreign elements. In addition, the ambassadors of Germany, Great Britain and France were summoned to the department against the background of what was happening.

Prior to this, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Iranians to express disagreement with opponents of government policy. He stressed that instigators of riots can destroy the entire society.
