On January 13, central banks of several countries and international institutions issued a joint statement expressing support for Jerome Powell, head of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS, which serves as the central bank), after threats from the US Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation against him.
"We express our full solidarity with the Federal Reserve System and its Chairman Jerome H. Powell," the Reuters news agency quotes the text of the message.
