In France, 21-year-old racer Rafael Cholet died during a motocross competition. This was reported on January 12 by MSports.

"The tragic loss shocks the off—road community: Raphael Cholet died after an accident," the statement said.

According to the newspaper, the tragic incident occurred on a sandy highway in the city of Grayan. The athlete crashed on landing after jumping, after which he collided with another motorcycle. The injuries were incompatible with life.

In October, Portuguese motorcycle racer Jorge Brandau died during the final, fifth stage of the Morocco Rally. According to the organizers, the tragedy occurred on the 214th km of the highway passing through the dunes around the town of Erfoud.

The athlete was 47 years old, he represented the Old Friends Rally Team. Previously, Brandau took part in the Dakar rally, where he acted as the navigator of Spaniard Carlos Vento in the buggy class.
