Dmitry Barinov, midfielder of FC Lokomotiv, announced on January 12 that the club had not made him a new contract extension offer.

Barinov also confirmed that he was aware of FC CSKA Moscow's interest in his possible joining the team.

"Of course, I know about CSKA's interest. Ask the representatives. <...> The club [Lokomotiv] did not contact me with a new offer. Do I understand why? No. Apparently, he didn't deserve it," the Championship reports Barinov's words.

According to Sport-Express, Barinov's current contract runs until the end of June 2026. The football player stated at the medical examination that he does not plan to leave Lokomotiv yet and declared his readiness for the new season.

"By no means am I leaving Lokomotiv right now. I had a medical checkup with the team. I've prepared superbly for the season," he added.

In turn, Dmitry Ulyanov, the sports director of Lokomotiv, said that the football player had been offered a new contract, which he refused, but expressed confidence that Barinov would faithfully fulfill his professional duties until the expiration of the current contract with Lokomotiv, fully devoting himself to the team, as before.

"As for Dmitry Barinov, I can inform you that, having become the new CEO, Boris Borisovich Rotenberg immediately resumed negotiations with representatives of the football player and with the player himself before the start of the unprotected contract period. The result of which was the offer to our pupil of a new four-year contract corresponding to his playing, leadership and captaincy qualities. The football player's side rejected this offer," the club's press service quoted Ulyanov as saying on the Telegram channel.

On December 3, Sport-Express reported that CSKA intends to make an offer to buy Barinov during the winter transfer window. It was clarified that the army is ready to offer € 0.5 million for the player. In the last summer transfer window, CSKA already made offers to Lokomotiv regarding Barinov, the amount of which was € 1.5 million and € 3 million. However, the club refused, hoping to extend its own contract with the player.
