Ukraine has one day left to pay its $179.6 million debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF announced this on January 12.

According to TASS, with reference to the fund's message, Kiev is obliged to repay 125,737,500 special drawing rights (SDR), which is equivalent to $179,648,33.29. In total, in 2026, Ukraine needs to pay 2,000,980,442 SDR ($2,858,914,813.37), including interest on the loan.

In the following years, the debt burden will remain at a high level: in 2027, payments are estimated at about $1.9 billion, in 2028 — about $1.4 billion, in 2029 — $2.3 billion, and in 2030 — about $2.28 billion.

Currently, Ukraine has already received $11.45 billion under the EFF extended lending program approved by the IMF in 2023.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on December 27 last year that the government would provide additional financial support to Ukraine in the amount of $1.83 billion. According to him, this will help unlock financing from the IMF, the World Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to launch the "recovery process."
